Care Nutrition Limited (CNL) and Frontier Nutrition have secured a $236,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support their efforts to become the 23rd global UNICEF approved supplier of therapeutic food for malnourished children.
The grant will fund preparations for a joint audit with UNICEF, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), and Action Against Hunger, facilitating CNL and Frontier Nutrition's entrance into the UNICEF approved supplier network. Additionally, it will support ongoing Research and Development (R&D) efforts and product development initiatives for clinical trials in Bangladesh, Niger, and Burkina Faso.
CNL is poised to become the first globally approved supplier of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) in Bangladesh, a significant step in addressing malnutrition in the region. Receiving approval will also allow the company to begin exporting therapeutic food to countries around the world.
Edward Bearnot, Managing Director of CNL, expressed gratitude for the support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, stating, "This grant accelerates our mission to combat malnutrition and save lives. We're honored to work towards becoming a UNICEF approved supplier and remain dedicated to making a meaningful impact."
CNL and Frontier Nutrition are committed to leveraging this grant to accelerate efforts in combating malnutrition and improving the health outcomes of children worldwide.
